the most relevant results, but only if you know the appropriate Library
of
Congress
subject
headings for
your topic. Subject headings in the discipline of philosophy are highly
variable, and include names of philosophers, schools and branches of
philosophy,
time periods, and country. Examples include:

- Ethics
- Existentialism
- Form (philosophy)
- Kant Immanuel
- Philosophy German
- Philosophy Ancient
A keyword search will
typically retrieve a greater number of results, though many may not be
relevant. Check the subject headings of relevant keyword search results,
and revise your search strategy as needed. Subject headings are hyperlinked,
and will lead you to all items in the catalog with that particular heading.

Finding Full-Text
If the database you are searching does not include the full-text of your
article, search the Journal/Article
Locator. Enter the journal title (not the article title!)
to see if your article is available in full-text in a different database.
The journal locator will also tell you if we have a journal in the McCain
print or microfilm collections. Double-check by searching in SOPHIA for
the journal title (not the article title!).
If we don't own the journal, you can request the article through Interlibrary
Loan, or, check to see if another
local library owns it.
