English 110AThe Craft of Writing: Stranger in the HouseBackgroundThe Guide to Library Research provides an introduction to the research process, including an overview of "Scholarly" and "Popular" Publications
Books
To search for books on literary criticism, start with a keyword search on the author's last name and the term criticism. You may also want to search on the author and the theme you are researching. For biographies, search on the individual's last name as a keyword. Reference BooksThere are several sets of literary criticism in the Reference Section
of the library and specialized encyclopedia sets on literature topics.
Most of these are in the PN - PS call number range. Depending on the topics you are investigating, you may want to venture into other areas, such as: The Oxford companion to Irish history. Modern Germany : an encyclopedia of history, people, and culture,
1871-1990. Encyclopedia of African-American culture and history.

Does McCain Library have this journal? Is it full-text?If the database you are searching does not include your journal or article,
search the Journal/Article
Locator. This searching tool will tell you if we have your journal through any database. The journal/article locator will also tell you if we have a publication in our print or microfilm collections. Double-check by searching in SOPHIA for the journal title (not the article title). If we don't own or have access to the publication, you can request the article through Interlibrary Loan, or, check to see if another local library that you can visit owns it. Other local libraries may have books in their collections on your topic. Try searching their catalogs for relevant materials.
