The Marjo Dobbs Arseneau ’89 Memorial Librarianship Award was first given in 2000. Marjo worked for McCain Library when she was a student. She earned her Master’s at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and then pursued a career as an academic librarian. Tragically, Marjo lost her life to breast cancer in 1997. Because of her love for both Agnes Scott College and librarianship, her classmates (the class of 1989), friends and family joined together to create a memorial fund to honor her life through this award.
The annual Arseneau Award (normally $500) goes to an Agnes Scott College junior or senior who either is committed to pursuing a career in librarianship by enrolling in a master of library science program, or has made significant contributions to McCain Library as a student worker.
